Graphic Design

Develop creative thinking and design skills for careers in graphic design.

Organizations rely on clear visual communication to convey ideas, build brands, and connect with audiences across print and digital media. The Graphic Design program at Berkeley College prepares students to develop thoughtful visual solutions that address real communication challenges. Students build a strong foundation in design principles, typography, and visual communication while exploring how design works across multiple platforms.

Along with the study of graphic design history and core design principles, the curriculum introduces the design process using traditional, digital, and emerging media. Students also examine the responsible use of artificial intelligence and other emerging tools as part of the creative workflow. Critical thinking, conceptual development, and creativity are emphasized as students learn about:

  • Branding and visual identity systems
  • Packaging design and product presentation
  • User Interface (UI) design and User Experience (UX) principles
  • Motion graphics and 3D Design
  • Illustration and visual storytelling
  • Publication and editorial design
  • Web and interactive media design
  • Professional design production
  • Design history and its cultural influence
