Fashion Merchandising and Management Concentrations
At Berkeley College, you’ll learn to succeed in the fashion business from those who already have. You’ll benefit from a faculty with extensive professional experience, as well as close proximity to one of the world’s great fashion districts.
Our Fashion Merchandising and Management degree programs focus on the business side of the fashion industry, training you in all aspects of the complete fashion global supply chain—current technologies, consumer behavior, product development, merchandising, retail distribution, marketing, and sales.
The Designer-in-Residence program provides hands-on, real-world experiences to help prepare you for success. Students work directly with leading fashion professionals, gaining insight into every facet of fashion–from concept and design to production and marketing.
Tutoring services, workshops, seminars, and other support services are available through the Center for Academic Success. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in student chapters of professional associations, student clubs, and alumni groups that can help you make important industry connections.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree program in Fashion Merchandising and Management at Berkeley College offers thirteen different areas of specialization—known as Concentrations—that allow you take a series of focused elective courses that can help enhance your marketability in the professional world. Concentrations will be noted on your transcript upon completion of the degree.

Each concentration is comprised of a four-course (12-credit) sequence or a five-course (15-credit) sequence which replaces the existing electives.

Berkeley College’s Designer-in-Residence program offers emerging fashion designers a unique opportunity to collaborate with the next generation of industry professionals. Through this cross-collaborative initiative, designers receive a dedicated workspace in the heart of New York City while immersing themselves in the academic and creative community at Berkeley College.

Each designer engages directly with students through classroom involvement, mentorship, and hands-on experiential learning. By sharing their expertise, real-world insights, and creative processes, our Designers-in-Residence enrich the student experience and contribute to the dynamic evolution of the Fashion Merchandising and Management curriculum.
Berkeley College Designers-in-Residence have included visionary talents such as Kibonen Nfi and Chuks Collins, whose innovative brands and global perspectives have helped shape the program’s forward-thinking, inclusive, and industry-relevant approach to fashion education.
Bach Mai, Berkeley College's latest Designer-in-Residence.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, to Vietnamese parents, Bach Mai developed a love for fashion and haute couture at a young age. He went on to study fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York City and was nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year. His journey includes design roles at Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, and Prabal Gurung, and a pivotal position at Maison Margiela under the direction of the legendary John Galliano. In 2019, Bach launched his label in partnership with Hurel, one of France’s most prestigious textile houses. His brand, Bach Mai, offers luxury, ready-to-wear, and made-to-order collections inspired by irreverent glamour and unabashed femininity.
Bach has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Covetour, InStyle, and others.
Through your fourth-year capstone project, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with and interview accomplished fashion industry professionals. You’ll also make invaluable professional networking connections. You’ll build valuable assets to enhance your fashion industry readiness, and your work may be published on the Berkeley College website and linked to in your resume.

The programs offer students a seamless transition between an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree.
The College considers students for admission to degree and certificate programs on the basis of future potential, the motivation and interest to succeed in a chosen profession, and past academic achievement.
Graduation from high school or the equivalent is a basic requirement for admission to degree and certificate programs. In evaluating candidates, the Committee on Admissions takes into consideration your individual interests, your motivation to succeed in a chosen profession, and prior academic achievement. Basic requirements for admission include graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent and an entrance exam or SAT/ACT scores. Applicants to some programs offered within the School of Health Studies may have additional requirements, including successful completion of the HESI® Admission Assessment (A2) with Critical Thinking entrance examination. Documentation of successful completion of high school or the equivalent must be submitted to the College prior to starting classes.
A personal interview is strongly recommended. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Director of Admissions at the campus of their choice to arrange for an appointment with an Admissions Associate. Berkeley maintains a rolling admissions policy, so students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applicants will be notified of a decision as soon as all credentials have been evaluated. Certain programs may have specific application deadline requirements.

Students benefit from courses taught by fashion faculty selected for their academic credentials and professional experience, in addition to guest lectures and presentations from industry experts. You will engage in a comprehensive capstone course and you may have the opportunity to participate in an internship where you can apply what you’ve learned in the fashion workplace. Field trips to retailers and showrooms, as well as volunteer opportunities during New York Fashion Week, provide additional hands-on learning.
