Health Services Management Programs

Ditzia DeSuze, LMSW, MSEd, is a Licensed Social Worker with nearly two decades of leadership experience in supportive housing and behavioral health services. She joined Community Counseling and Mediation (CCM) in 2007 and has advanced through multiple leadership roles within the housing division. DeSuze currently serves as Director of CCM Beverly’s Place, where she oversees program operations, compliance, and service delivery. She holds degrees in psychology, school counseling, and social work, and brings a strategic, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach to program leadership as an Afro-Latina professional.

David Gorman, MBA, FRBMA, brings more than 40 years of experience in operational, financial, and administrative leadership across the health care sector. His background spans pharmacy, nursing, ambulatory care, urology, psychiatry, radiology, and orthopedic rehabilitation, with the past 24 years focused on radiology and inpatient rehabilitation services. He currently serves as Controller of the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise, where he is the executive financial leader of the hospital.

Previously at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, he oversaw ancillary services within radiology, including billing, coding, scheduling, quality assurance, compliance, and a 170-member faculty practice. Prior to joining Berkeley College, he served as an adjunct professor of finance at Molloy University and Dowling College. Gorman holds a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and an MBA from Dowling College.

Arlene Hidalgo, MBA, is a patient-focused health care professional with nearly two decades of experience spanning clinical and administrative roles. Her expertise includes Medicaid and Medicare education, patient advocacy, and office management procedures. She currently serves as a Program Associate with the VOICES Medicaid Education Program at Hospital for Special Surgery, where she educates patients and communities on coverage options and helps them navigate complex authorization processes. A proud Berkeley College alumna, Arlene holds a BBA in Health Services Management and an MBA in Management with a concentration in healthcare.

Johanna Hoyos, MSc, LSSGB, CTM, SAS is a healthcare and life sciences executive whose career spans bench science, clinical operations, and strategic leadership in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. A former molecular biologist and immunologist, she advanced into clinical trial management, global clinical operations, and training for Principal Investigators and CRAs on protocols and assays. She later pursued roles in alliance management, portfolio/program management, leading business development searches and evaluations, and corporate strategy. A strategic advisor to startups and spinouts, she brings innovative breakthroughs to market for human impact. She is currently pursuing patent agent qualification and aspires to practice patent law. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation, being the guide she lacked, and supporting Health Services Management students in discovering diverse career paths across healthcare and innovation.

Joshua Jayasingh, MD, MHA, is a healthcare leader with more than a decade of experience in hospital operations, quality management, clinical documentation excellence, and regulatory compliance. As Assistant Director at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, he collaborates with executive and clinical teams to enhance quality outcomes, strengthen financial performance, and improve patient-centered care delivery. He also contributes to academic, advisory, and nonprofit initiatives, bringing a global perspective, strategic insight, and a collaborative, results-driven approach to advancing healthcare systems and operational excellence.

Pam Kerlan, MBA, is an experienced business development and marketing professional with a proven track record in healthcare marketing and administration. As a senior leader, she specializes in developing innovative marketing tactics and defining global business strategies, having worked for a range of companies, including Fortune 100 firms. Her expertise spans client relationship management and strategic growth, consistently elevating brand experiences through data-driven insights and creative execution.

Kerlan has more than two decades of professional experience, including key roles at Deloitte, where she collaborated with senior management on global marketing initiatives, and Time Inc., where she served on the advertising sales team. Additionally, she shared her industry knowledge of health care administration as an Adjunct Professor at Berkeley College for more than 14 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Marketing and Management from Columbia Business School.

Tiffany Melone, CPC, CBCS, is a Revenue Cycle Consultant, specializing in mental health administration and healthcare operations. With experience in compliance, multi-state billing systems, and practice infrastructure development, she has led policy and procedure initiatives, implemented HIPAA and operational SOPs, negotiated payer contracts, and overseen revenue cycle operations for a growing behavioral health practice. She has also mentored emerging professionals and supported student interns transitioning into healthcare careers. Currently pursuing her MBA in Health Services Management, Melone focuses on value-based care, operational efficiency, and expanding patient access through interdisciplinary care strategies that balance cost and quality.

Rizwan C. Naeem, MD, FACMG, is an executive physician, laboratory director, and professor of pathology at the Montefiore Health System and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. A dual board-certified specialist in clinical molecular genetics and clinical cytogenetics, he brings more than 25 years of experience in academic medicine and laboratory innovation. Dr. Naeem has developed leading molecular and cancer genomics laboratories nationwide and serves as Program Director for Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) and Molecular Genetics Pathology (MGP) fellowship programs at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. A founding member of national genomics organizations in Pakistan, he established the country’s first public-sector cytogenetic laboratory for childhood leukemia, expanding access to lifesaving diagnostics. His expertise spans strategic planning, laboratory operations, research design, and advancing equitable access to high-quality genomic medicine.

Melissa Rhoney, PhD, born in South American Guyana, is a healthcare professional with more than 20 years of experience in clinical operations, workforce strategy, and organizational transformation. An alumna of Berkeley College, she brings a strong academic foundation to her practical, results-driven leadership approach. Rhoney has led complex initiatives that improve quality, drive performance, and strengthen patient outcomes across diverse care settings. She is a trusted advisor and mentor, committed to advancing healthcare education, professional development, and sustainable organizational impact.

Sergio Torres, LCSW, is a Berkeley College Bachelor’s of Business Administration alumnus and a graduate of the New York University Silver School of Social Work. He began his professional career in human resources, working at the New York Times and Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, where he supported organizational operations, employee relations, and human resource processes.

In 2018, Torres transitioned into the mental health field to pursue clinical training and direct practice. He has worked as a school social worker and psychotherapist and is the Founder of Torres Psychotherapy, a private practice providing psychotherapy services to individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, career development, men’s issues, and concerns impacting BIPOC communities.
